laura suffers...really, she does

Wow! No one is suffering more than Laura Bush and our President, according to her.

Atrios rams the MSM with this point: imagine a First Lady Hillary Clinton making that statement under similar circumstances and imagine the media reaction.

Right... and I thought Laura's plight might be considered a little newsy but CNN thinks Rosie leaving "The View" is more important.
Oh, and Sheryl Crow can only spare a square...

America, Fuck Yeah!

Update: Just noticed the headline bout the Trooper shooting. Catskills Manhunt is hard core!

from a distance

I am holding my breath waiting for Pat Robertson, Weather Prophet, to exclaim on his little show how God is speaking to us through recent meteorological events. Though, this time, its not the Big Easy God hath smote. It's a seal hunt.

Can this be more poetic? More epic in scale?
The shifting ice pack trapped nearly 100 long-line fishing boats as the crews were engaged in the annual hunt for seals on ice floes this month.
God is watching us, Pat, and he is pissed... but probably not at gay people on the teevee.

someone else said it so i don't have to

This post is neither about pop nor tarts. Discuss.

I guess it falls under "and more" but it is way out of sync with the chipper tone of deniable plausibility. For that I apologize.

The Virginia Tech shootings are horrible. Things should have been different.

From Salon:
As humans do, we try to ensure that this awful spectacle of death was not for nothing. Hence our national soul-searching and debate. How could this happen? Is our society somehow to blame? Our values? Our gun laws? What could we have done differently to save this tortured soul?

But half a world away, similar horrors are happening every day -- horrors, unlike Seung-Hui Cho's slaughter, for which America bears direct responsibility. And we feel nothing.

The situation in Iraq is horrible. Things should have been different.

50 states

Now leaving the 48th state, Arizona. Heading home to much warmer weather than when I left...YAY!!

It was a chilly day off yesterday, but got some sun (too much) and some exercise (not enough) but looking forward to a renewed participation in a sport best played with 2, not 3.

Tennis anyone?
