A day that will live in infamy for Copolla/Scorcese and indie movie fans of a certain snobbiness.
George Lucas ruined the motion picture as we know it (and summer movie going) with the release of Star Wars, his galactic, western "art film".
But it was just two years before that Steven Spielberg charted blockbuster waters with the first summer event movie, Jaws. A movie that still thrills with Hitchcock chills and camera frills.
[Ed. note: There's a closing paragraph in me about how the rebellious kids with their fancy film school smarts and crowd pleasing instinct ended up running the movie business and becoming the hated empire that they initially rebelled against but I just can't figure out how to frame it in a larger context to make my point....wait I think I just did. Booyah! Schools out!]
